Angela Correa (1998) serves Virginia Tech's Sea Grant/CFAST program as the Public Information Specialist. Although she has an office in the Food Science Building, she is officially part of University Relations.
George Flick, Virginia Tech Distinguished Professor in Food Science states, "Recent
developments in food safety issues and regulations have made communication with
industry a high priority. Also, the ability to inform government agencies, trade
associations, and educational institutions of the CFAST programs'
activities and needs is crucial to maintaining Tech's national and international
reputation." Angela's
role within Sea Grant/CFAST is
to coordinate all media and public relations for the group, and to promote awareness
of the program's contribution to the
seafood and commercial aquaculture industries. Angela is also working with the
newly opened High Pressure Processing Laboratory
at Virginia Tech.
Flick adds, "Angela will fill a critical need within our Sea
Grant program. There is little doubt that an effective public information program is one of our most vital activities."

Angela has substantial experience in strategic communications, and in the planning, writing, and editing of publications including newsletters, brochures, manuals, scholarly papers, and internet media. She has additional experience in market research and planning, and has also worked to foster productive relationships with state and local government officials, corporate and community leaders, and the press.
