Biographical Notes & Research:
  David Kang is from Burke, Virginia and earned a B.S. degree in biology, with a minor in chemistry, from Virginia Tech in 2000. He worked for three years as a microbiological research study director, coordinator and technologist for Microbiotest, Inc. in Sterling, VA. His responsibilities included research and development projects and effectiveness studies as commissioned by manufacturers of antimicrobials. Additionally, he produced standard operating procedures (SOPs) and study protocols for the division of Biofilms, Protozoology, and Virology and for the division of Applied Microbiology. His graduate studies will emphasize food microbiology and his thesis research will focus on the quantitative relationship between surface area and biofilm formation on stainless steel and/or selected raw produce.
