The Department of Food Science and Technology at Virginia Tech has a long history of providing Enology Extension to serve the needs of the Commonwealth of Virginia.  The enology extension program offers a variety of services and programs  to both new and existing wineries.  Graduate students in the department also have the opportunity to conduct research focused on fermentation-related issues including winemaking, beer brewing and fermented foods that provides additional resources for Virginia wineries. In addition, the Analytical Services Laboraory has served the Virginia wine and fermented beverage industries since 2006 with full-service and custom analysis on wine, beer, distilled spirits, cider, juice, kombucha and food products.
