For Participants
Participate in Sensory Research
Are you curious about how your taste buds can contribute to science? Join us at the Virginia Tech Sensory Evaluation Laboratory and become a vital part of cutting-edge food research!
Why Participate?
Our sensory studies help researchers and food companies make informed decisions about ingredients, packaging, flavor, and marketing. By sharing your sensory experiences, you’ll be helping shape the future of food—while enjoying a unique and engaging experience.
What to Expect
Participants are invited to taste and evaluate food and beverage samples in our state-of-the-art facility, located in the Human and Agricultural Biosciences Building (HABB1). Each session typically lasts between 15 to 60 minutes and may involve:
Tasting and rating food samples
Describing flavors, textures, and aromas
Participating in focus groups or individual booth evaluations
All studies are conducted in a controlled, comfortable environment using advanced sensory data collection tools.
Who Can Participate?
We welcome individuals of all backgrounds! No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to taste and share your opinions. Some studies may have specific eligibility criteria, which will be shared during recruitment.
